About Koning Vera Breast CT
What is the Vera Breast CT:
The Koning Vera Breast CT is an advanced, 3D breast imaging system that uses low-dose computed tomography (CT) technology to create detailed images of the breast. Unlike traditional mammography, the Vera Breast CT does not require breast compression and allows radiologists to view breast tissue in true 3D slices. This helps in detecting abnormalities with greater clarity, especially in patients with dense breast tissue.
The Vera Breast CT is ideal for:
Women with dense breast tissue where mammograms may be less effective
Patients with equivocal or inconclusive mammogram results
Individuals needing more detailed imaging following a lump, abnormal ultrasound, or mammogram
Women undergoing high-risk breast cancer screening
Patients who require or are eligible for contrast-enhanced imaging
It is not typically used as a routine screening method but rather as a diagnostic or supplemental imaging tool. Your Shero radiologist will determine if this is the right option for you.
Key Benefits include:
No breast compression
Comfortable, fast procedure
High-resolution 3D imaging
Can be used with or without contrast
What to expect during a Vera Breast CT?
The scan is quick and designed for your comfort. Here's what happens:
You’ll lie face down on a cushioned exam table with one breast positioned in an opening beneath the table.
The CT scanner rotates around the breast, capturing hundreds of images in seconds.
You won’t feel the scan, and no compression is applied.
The process is repeated for the other breast if needed.
The entire session typically takes 10–15 minutes.
